is it ok if BS computer science graduate will shift a career in Advertising/graphic design career?

Q. I graduated in college a few years ago, my degree was BS Computer Science and have worked for a few years in technical/helpdesk support/clerical jobs in an IT company. I found out to my self that I like designing than tech support and talking to grumpy clients. I wanna find out if I shift my carreer in designing if it worth it.

A. Hi, I work for an IT Contracting Specialists company in Dublin and many of our contractors started out in helpdesk. I think the problem with helpdesk roles is that they can only be undertaken for a few years before they come monotonous. Is there any opportunity within your current company to move up the ladder? A lot of our contractors started off in helpdesk, and then went one of two ways. Some moved upto exchange or user administration and from there into network administration. After that point, those that like Network admin tend to stay there, while others move into Software Development or Project Management roles. Others move from helpdesk to Web Development and from web development into software development. Maybe a question to ask yourself is, where would you like to be in ten years time or what are your ultimate career goals. If you can establish that, then maybe you can start deciding the road to take to get you to your final career destination.

Career : IT or rlrctrical power engineering?
Q. Currently I work as a Helpdesk Agent in the computer networks field. My major study was electrical power and machines but I changed my career . I'm thinking of returning back to my career , and work in Schneider
Which is a better , IT or electrical power engineering ??

A. IT all the WAY!!! I studied Electrical Engineering at college, then I also got a job with a Corporate Helpdesk. But I took advantage of all the free courses on software development and project management they have at my company, Verizon. I've been able to get promoted up to more interesting positions. The Helpdesk is a good place to get a general feel for the company's network and it's applications. You can then combine that insider knowledge with your own skills in Network Design(Cisco certification perhaps?) or some development skill. I've grown to love the IT side because it allows you to delve into complicated IT topics but you still have the Human Engineering side to it. But then again.... if you really really miss the heavy math apect to power engineering maybe power engineering is in your path. But the biggest factor you would want to consider are the job prospects for EE's. Are PE's getting hired as much as Network Designers etc..? I would do some google research on the money question. Hope that helps. Good Luck.
