Q. I want to know about the career prospectus of B.Tech I.T. and B.Tech computer science and engineering. which branch promises a better future.
A. IT folks use them and computer scientists design them. Actually, most software engineers I ever met were other things, some of our best are mathematicians, civil, chemical and electrical engineers. But I do embedded and realtime systems where understanding the whole system is much more useful than being able to argue the toss on different sorting algorithms.
IT is like being a car mechanic, computer science is like being a car designer.
I'd have said in the past that IT was a good career, but it's even easier to contract out to India and China than engineering. We used to have 14 IT people, now when I call the helpdesk I get an Indian in a call center a few thousand miles away who can't fix the problem and doesn't understand what I am complaining about anyway.

How are HP's, including their service and support?
Q. Now I've heard as much good about HP as I have about Dell.
But. I've heard more better reviews about HP than I have Dell.
Yet here is my problem. I owned an HP for a little less than a year.
I bought it for less than 800 USD. Needless to say within four months I had accidentally dropped it and the bottom right hinge had broken off.
A few months after that I dropped it again and the AC Adapter, the part that connects to the laptop, broke.
I spend 70 POUNDs (Not dollars or Euro.) to get a replacement Adapter.
And then my brother sat on it and the screen became ruined.
It gave me the blue screen of death a fair few times, too. Mind this was when I still used XP.
So. Are HP's all that bad? Meaning they can't be man-handled (I'm a chick. =p) and their hardware/software just doesn't want to last?
Or did I get a dud?
I'm leaning towards it being a dud because I don't see too many complaints about the HP.
I'd really like to hear from HP owners (Past and Present) and not idiots who are all "Go Dell!" "Go Mac!"
I know they're good computers.
But that's just not my question.
After a while things like that really get annoying.
Thank you everyone! =D
Techie-
I think I'd much rather get an HP and be more gentle/place it somewhere where my brother can sit on it.
Instead of buying a hardy Dell which is going to cost me 300 dollars more.
=)

A. It sounds like your problem is phyical abuse not problems the manufacturer can really be held acountable for. Panasonic Toughbooks, Used by the armed services in the field, even have their limitations.
Blue Screens (Windows Stop Screens) indicate driver problems. If you take the error code and put it into a search engine, you will find numerous articles on the cause and resolution of the problem.
This website is also tapo notch : http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm
Truthfully, I was Compaq certified and HP.... Dell and IBM as well. I would not buy a laptop, they are for mobility, but they are very delicate. HP service sucks, their helpdesk in India are lame and usually complete, script reading idiots. I guess I am getting harsh, but no I would avoid them like the plague.
Dell is about the same, IBM are now Lenovo which is Chinese and they are about the same. Lame.
Your best bet for performance, power and durability is to make your own desktop from components. More power for the money.
Cheers

A. Hello,
-> First of all check if your laptop was G or N wifi card.
-> Then check the link I posted to see what router fits for your needs.
-> Then when you buy a new wireless router you should install its software on your pc so you can configure your ISP password/user name and it's security features.
-> You must know security is a big issue so you must configure your router to the highest security and use a very good password.
-> However should read the manually carefully for how to configure your new router.
--Set your SSID
--Enable Encryption
--Set WEP(64 bit) you should need to pick a really good password.
--Mac Address Filtering on
--And use DCHP server on so you can have dynamic IP.
-> Also you can connect your desktop pc via ethernet cable again or you can buy a new wifi card but that's not necessary.
-> Further more you can have some access points on your house so you will be 100% that you will have a strong wifi signal everywhere in your house.
-> Or you can try a repeater if you donât want to spend on an extra access point then try a repeater. What a repeater does is receive the WiFi signal then repeat it hence the name. But it means that the repeater must be inside the range of the WiFi network, otherwise it wonât receive a signal in the first place. Linksys, Netgear and Belkin all make repeaters, and theyâre typically quite affordable. The added extra is that they do not require an extra cabling as they receive the signal wirelessly instead.
-> Finally don't forget to mount your router on the wall.
Thank you in advance
Alex G.
