Q. I am planing on building a computer sometime soon. It's my first time building one from the ground up. I have some expierience with taking them apart and instaling components and stuff. Start with a case, select one, copy item name and paste on document, copy the URL, WEB site where you are at, paste at top of document.
Copy the picture and paste, copy specs and paste last copy/type the price. safe doc as, 'My First Computer.
Do the same for every item you must buy to build your computer. Throw the items in the basket while you are at it, that gives you the cost for your dream!

Never store data on the drive with your operating system! That is why so many people lose their data!

Should I wait to build by computer until Windows Vista and DirectX10 come out?

All computers have these same parts: Case, Power Supply, Motherboard, RAM, Processor, Graphic Card, Hard Drive. DVD/CD drive, floppy! Some may include sound card, TV card.
Windows Vista wants a graphic card that is not more than two years old, should have 1GB RAM and at lest 80GB hard drive.
DirectX10 is free from www.microsoft.com.
If you want to build your system now, do it. If you can put it off until the spring of next year, then wait. Not because of VISTA, but there are other issues that will be clearer by that time.
Price of a Blue RAY DVD drive for one, along with the next generation network standards.
