What is the scope of hardware and networking for females with non-engineering background?
Q. which career pays more hardware or software?
what is the best thing to learn in the field of computers for non-engineering background individuals?
what is the best thing to learn in the field of computers for non-engineering background individuals?
A. Well, it depends on what your job is exactly and with what organization. Software and hardware specific jobs can make as much. If you are tech support (on site or you work in a workshop) then you will just be a step above helpdesk (phone tech support). You should look into network engineering/administration (don't confuse engineering in this case with anything like computer or electrical engineering, these are different beasts and have little to do with operating or administering computer networks).
If you can setup, administer, and maintain windows, unix, linux servers, back them up, run security, setup and maintain switches (especially cisco) then you'll be in as good of a position as someone that can program .NET (VB, C#, etc), PHP, Java, etc. If you get an entry level position then you are going to be payed low but if your skill sets are good enough and you are ambitious enough (not too much) then you WILL move up in the organization or someone else will come along and scoop you up.
Programming is not for everyone, tech support is not for everyone, and system/network administration is not for everyone. I think you should sit down and find out what you want to do or take some classes and figure it out. There is more to programming than just learning a language. You have to be a good problem solver. Programming is only a way to implement your solution. The language is the easiest thing to learn, how to solve problems is the hardest thing to learn.
