When contacting a software help desk, do you prefer that you speak with an American or an Indian rep?

Q. Trying to figure out if people find American based software support help desks better or worse in terms of service than those based in India. Trying to settle a friendly argument between me and a friend.

A. I personally prefer American because of the language barrier. Not all are rude, and if they are you can call them out on it by asking for a manager.

I've come to the conclusion that there are no managers in India.

Hello,I want to know which markets have the best arbitrage opportunities?
Q. I was looking for the best arbitrage opportunities, but the markets that I found the biggest spread it's the markets NSE/BSE in India.
I want to know the markets where have the biggest spread.(It can be stocks,commodities,futures,etc..)

A. You are getting in way over your head, and don't know enough to ask a specific question.

Often the quotes you see (that might have an arbitrage opportunity) are old quotes, and the minute you try to take advantage of it (enter an order), the quotes are updated and the arbitrage opportunity is gone. Other opportunities in foreign countries for example, have hidden fees or other costs are involved that exceeds the opportunity.

This is a business the big boys have covered.

Are you asking about merger arbitrage, risk arbitrage, currency, bonds, options or stocks arbitrage?

Market Makers: True Arbitrage
Market makers have several advantages over retail traders:

Far more trading capital
Generally more skill
Up-to-the-second news
Faster computers
More complex software
Access to the dealing desk

Combined, these factors make it nearly impossible for a retail trader to take advantage of pure arbitrage opportunities. Market makers use complex software that is run on top-of-the-line computers to locate such opportunities constantly. Once found, the differential is typically negligible, and requires a vast amount of capital in order to profit--retail traders would likely get burned by commission costs. Needless to say, it is almost impossible for retail traders to compete in the risk-free genre of arbitrage.

Is a career as a Medical Transcriptionist a good choice?
Q. Are there jobs in this field, particularly in Southern California? What's the job outlook? How does one become this?

A. Short answers is no, I don't think so.

More details. I live in NoCal. I was a transcriptionist in the 1990s. You can do research in the particular area where you live, however, in general there is not the need for transcriptionists that there once was. First of all some doctors are using voice recognition software which directly types their dictation so they don't need transcriptionists. Secondly with electronic medical records many doctors are simply entering the chart notes when the patient is in the room with them. And even if they do send out their dictation many are sending them overseas, especially to India, because it is less expensive and with the time difference the doctor can leave his/her office at 5 pm and have the reports on his/her desk in the morning ready to be signed.

In recent years some doctor's are bringing transcription back in-house rather than shipping it overseas. However you really would need to do research to see if there is enough of a market for you to bothering training. And, of course, employers usually want experience. So, unless you already have some sort of medical background I would recommend you study something else.
