An employee left unexpectedly and changed the pass word on his computer. How do I turn it on?

Q. The guy comes in here on Sunday afternoon, blears out his desk changes the password on his computer and quits. There is material on that computer that I will need. How do I get around the password? THANKS!

A. Iâm sure there are smaller downloads that can remove a Windows password, but having a copy of one of these emergency boot discs should be a requirement for everybody.

There are several free utility CDs that incorporate an option to remove a Windows password. These include Hirenâs Boot CD (HBCD), Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) and Ultimate Boot CD for Windows (UBCD4WIN).

This procedure uses Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD).

You need to use a working computer to download the .ISO image, and burn it to CD. You then use the CD to boot the computer thatâs blocking you with a password.

This link takes you to a download for Ultimate Boot CD 5.1.1. Scroll down to Free System tools, and download the .ISO image, then burn it to CD.

http://100-downloads.com/

If you don't have burning software installed on the working computer, download and install Ashampoo Burning Studio 6. It's free, and I recommend it...I use it myself:

https://www.ashampoo.com/uk/gbp/pin/0710/0-Offline/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-6

Start up Ashampoo and select Create/Burn Disc Images...then select Burn a CD/DVD/Blu-ray Disc from a Disc Image.

Burn the CD or DVD, and use it to boot your problem computer. You may need to enter your BIOS (Setup), and change the boot sequence to boot from CD first, but this isn't always necessary.

Once youâve booted your problem computer with the UBCD, scroll down and click on âParted Magicâ, then scroll down again and click on âAlternate graphical serverâ. Allow it to load up, then click on the circular Parted Magic symbol in the bottom left-hand-corner of your screen.

Select âSystem Toolsâ, then click on âPCLoginNowâ. Click the Next button, then highlight the system you wish to log in to. If you have multiple operating systems installed they will all be listed, so be careful to select the correct one.

Click the Next button. Now highlight the user. If you have multiple accounts installed they will all be listed, so be careful to select the correct one.

Place a tick in the box labelled âpassword is emptyâ. Click the Next button, and if asked âReset successfully! Do you want to reset another USER?â, click the No button.

Once again, click on the circular Parted Magic symbol in the bottom left-hand-corner of your screen and select âLogoutâ, then select âReboot the computerâ and click the OK button.

CHKDSK will be activated. Allow this to complete and if all is well, youâll continue to boot to your desktop.

Hope this helps.

What do you clean on your computer daily, weekly to keep it running quickly?
Q. I run the defragment and disk clean up, avast I do have malware, but it still runs very slowly, checked for viruses nothing found, pc is always chattering. I type a sentence and it takes a few seconds for the letters to appear. I have asked before and have done what you guys rec. but it is still happening. When I click on a site, windows open over other windows, I have a desk top, running windows. thank you again.

A. Download Malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Restart your computer in safe mode and turn off System Restore. Run do a deep scan with Malwarebytes, turn system restore back on and restart you computer.

You've probably already got all the tools you need already installed on your computer. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup and run that. Tools like Ccleaner - http://www.piriform.com/ - have a better interface and is more selective about what files you can delete.

These programs will create more space on your hard drive. Look through the programs you've got installed, are there some you don't use at all any more. If so use the Add / Remove programs utility in Control Panel to get rid of them.

What really slows your computer down is memory usage. Look at the system tray on the bottom right of your screen. Are there lots of icons there from programs that are running but you don't use? Either delete the programs you don't use or stop them from running when your computer boots unless you want them to.

Other things you can do are

Optimize your BIOS
Change or get rid of the Windows boot screen
Reduce the number of running services
Change the location of the pagefile

Loads of help with these at http://www.google.com/search?q=windows+decrease+boot+time

Defragging your drive may help, again there is one in all versions of Windows - Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter. Don't expect a huge jump in performance though, See http://www.vista4beginners.com/Benchmarking-the-Disk-Defragmenter and http://www.maximumpc.com/article/the_disk_defrag_difference

A registry cleaner (like the one found in Ccleaner) can be useful in removing erroneous registry entries which may increase your system performance slightly. Again the value of this is debatable. http://www.whatthetech.com/2007/11/25/do-i-need-a-registry-cleaner/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registry_cleaner

Use only reputable software and be careful where you download them from when using defraggers and registry cleaners. Ensure the power is not turned off when using them. A ruined file system or registry may mean a complete reinstall.

If you don't mind spending a little money, one of the best things you can do to increase the speed of a PC is to increase the amount of RAM. There's a scanner at http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx that will tell you what memory you've already got installed and how much and of what type your system can handle.

If the PC is older it may be time to get a new one rather than spend any money trying to fix it.

How do you make that feather effect in manga?
Q. In lots of mangas, I've seen a lot of effects with feather imprints. How do you make those??? Please tell me the way to, and if I need any special tools.

A. you mean, like this:

http://freevector.info/images/vector-feathers.gif
http://data.whicdn.com/images/22483714/tumblr_lywyhwGm4Y1qlvvfso1_500_thumb.jpg

manually you can draw it, example by tracing it
http://www.gomediazine.com/wp-content/images/2008/07/baseshape.jpg

pick a picture/image of a feather then on top of it put another plain paper.
use a tracing light-box if you can purchase one or just use a simple source of light & a glass/transparent desk. put the source of light under the transparent desk. you can use pencil & later on inking it using G-Pen.

something like this for a light-box can do too, just to help illuminate from the bottom
http://www.instructables.com/image/F1ZCKPWQM3EP27QHWT/light-box.jpg

or you can just copy any feather style by practicing it over & over again, freehand of course, until you're satisfied with the picture.

another try is using IC TONE or Screentone. this is some kind of adhesive film sheet with designated patterns like dots, ribbons, lines, swirls, circles, bricks, squares, etc.

http://www.shineblitzon.com/asale2/screens1cu.jpg

there's also a photoshop screentone that you can use if you're using computer software for drawing Manga: http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs5/i/2005/001/a/5/Screentone_feathers_by_Yuugi_chan.jpg
