Q. I have a laptop a dell inspiron 5000e and an hp compaq desk top both running windows xp. I want to use my laptop as my monitor for both computers, can I do this? What hardware/software/device/cable would I need to accomplish this? Both have the ioioi hookup.
I do not have a docking station for my laptop but it is wireless and the desk top isn't.

A. Why not buy a monitor for your desktop?
I don't think you can use a laptop display as a desktop PC monitor.
If just sharing an internet connection for both is your actual problem and you just failed to correctly put in words here, than buy a router (Belkin or Linksys) and connect the desktop PC wired and the laptop wireless.
You can also make your desktop wireless (I do not recommend it, since wireless is slower than wired). Just buy and install a PCI add-on wireless card.

How do I clear out the hard drive in my laptop?
Q. I want to wipe out the hard drive on my Acer laptop, and I'm not quite sure how to do this. My HP desk top came with a Restore disk to perform this operation, but my laptop didn't come with anything like that. What do I need to do? (It's an Acer Aspire 5515 if that helps)
A. You would want to click on "My Computer". It will show you the "C" Drive and "D" Drive. Right click with your mouse on the "C" Drive, scroll up to the "Format" Option and left click on it. It will ask you "Ar you sure you want to continue" and you click yes. It will format your hard drive, clearing out any software/ including your operating system, leaving you with a clean disk.
This is universal to all computers that has Windows installed, regardless of the make/ model.

How do I change a file in pdf format to jpg format?
Q. I scanned a drawing on my hp printer and its in pdf format so I can't post it on facebook or photobucket. I've been trying to change it to another format for awhile now but nothing working! And no matter how many times I copy it to the pictures file it won't stay there! Its so annoying! Help please!
A. Open the picture so it shows on the desk top.
Hit the print screen button. This copies it to the computer clipboard.
Open the paint program
Paste the picture into paint. Press the Ctrl Key and the V key at the same time.
Click on the File button (top of page) and choose Save As
When the save as box comes up click on the down arrow under save as file type and choose jpeg as the file type.
Click save and it is now a jpeg or the type of file you chose.
There are other ways to do it but this will require NO additional software. As paint is built into all versions of Windows.
