Q. I frequently access my home PC from school using remote desktop. My ISP seems to change my IP address frequently. I realize this only when I reach school. Is there a way to find the IP address while you are not at your desk (by writing a script triggered by email?) Any service which does this for you on command?
A. Use free dyndns sevice
This is how I did to access remotely my computer (on dsl with changing ip address)
1> You select for domain name for free. I selected mine as homeip.net domain. Then i have to select name say "mole" (any name, this is example, even selecting your name is alright). So my computer can be search on internet by using mole.homeip.net address (this address/name of my computer is constant throughout internet even if my computer ip address keep on changing).
List of free domain name:-
http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/domains.html
2> I register for dyndns for free dynamic dns service:-
https://www.dyndns.com/account/create.html
After registering ,Go to "My account", select "add new host service"
Hostname:- mole.homeip.net (select what ever you want)
Tick "wildcard" option and press "create new host"
3> go to https://www.dyndns.com/support/ and select "dyndns updater" software (on right side in orange square box on that web page). Download and install
Done.....................
This is how it works. Dyndns update (running as service on your computer) whenever notice change in ip address, it will update DNS server the record of mole.homeip.net with that address.
To see you address, you can "ping mole.homeip.net" in command prompt.
In short, whenever you want access you home computer from remote location, use name "mole.homeip.net" instead of ip address.
Actually, I use my home computer having website and ftp server . My friends and family access website on my computer using name like "mole.homeip.net" even if they don't know my computer ip address on internet (as it keep on changing due to DSL internet connection i have for home computer.
IMP:- mole.homeip.net is just an example. I use something else.

How can i view and use another computer in my company with out leaving my desk?
Q. EXAMPLE I WORK IN THE OFFICE AND WE HAVE SEVERAL STORES AND I NEED TO ACCESS A STORE LOCATION AND WORK ON A PROGRAM ON THEIR COMPUTER, INSTEAD OF GOING OVER TO THAT STORE HOW CAN I ACCESS IT AND WORK ON A PROGRAM AT THAT LOCATION.
A. i use LogMeIn from logmein.com. Download logmein on all computers that you wish to control from your office. make one account. when you log into the account from your office, you will be able to see all the computers online. now click on a computer and connect (you will need to enter the passphrase, which you will make for every computer while downloading logmein on them). then you will be able to select remote control. this will allow you to control the computer as if you were sitting in front of it. the LogMeIn free allows you to control the computer and chat, the other nonfree version allow other things like letting you print directly from that computer, let you use remote sound (you can here what is happening on there computer's speakers on your speakers), etc. i recommend free version because the others are a waste of money.
another option for xp pro users is that u can use the built in remote control software. this is very difficult to use though and i dont recommend it.
hope this helped. email for qs. peace

Do you have to be a programmer to develop a tech business?
Q. And I mean by programmer is an understanding of code.
A. There are many aspects of IT that don't involve programming.
Computing Security, Disaster Recovery, Computer Hardware, Help Desk, Remote Access Administration, Storage Administration, Network Administration, Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, Enterprise Administration, Active Directory Administration, Exchange and Messaging Administration, Backup Administration, Database Administration, Data Center Administrator and Physical Security just to name a few.
A full service tech shop would probably have a programmer that does web and app development but many companies want to get away from custom software development. They want help implementing COTS (Common off the shelf software) and want to avoid developing and supporting custom software.
Best wishes!
